“I deplore the reported decision of the Israeli security cabinet to authorize a series of administrative and enforcement measure in areas A and B of the occupied West Bank.
Such steps would further undermine the Palestinian Authority, contravene existing agreements, violate International Law and risk further destabilizing the already fragile situation on the ground, as well as eroding the prospects for a negotiated two states solution .
I urge Israel to reverse these measures and call on all parties to refrain from actions that escalate tensions or further erode the viability of the two state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security.
