    26 Mar 2018 - Mr. President, Members of the Security Council, On behalf of the Secretary-General, I devote my regular briefing on the situation in the Middle East today to presenting the fifth report on the implementation of Security Council resolution 2334 that covers the period from 18 December last year to 25 March this year.
  • 16 Mar 2018 - The absence of a political process aimed at ending the conflict on the basis of two-state solution continues to be the single largest impediment to Palestinian development, according to a new report by the office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO).
  • 13 Mar 2018 - “I condemn the attack on the convoy of Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah in Gaza earlier today and wish those injured a speedy recovery. This grave incident must be promptly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice. Until the legitimate Palestinian Authority is fully empowered in Gaza, Hamas has the responsibility to ensure that the Government is able to carry out its work in the Strip without fear of intimidation, harassment and violence.

    05 Feb 2018 - International consensus on a two-State solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could be eroding “at a time when it is more important than ever,” Secretary-General António Guterres said on Tuesday, calling the ‘question of Palestine’ one of the longest unresolved issues on the agenda of the United Nations.

    25 Jan 2018 - The United Nations, the Security Council and the wider international community all have fallen into a pattern of “managing, rather than resolving” the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the UN envoy on the Middle East peace process warned Thursday, saying it was time to end this paralysis, show political leadership and push for policies on the ground that rebuild trust.

    Noting that with the signing last month of the Cairo agreement, Palestinians have set out on a path towards reconciliation, a senior United Nations official underscored on Monday the urgency to resolve the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and to return the enclave to full civilian and security control of the Palestinian Authority.

    17 Oct 2017 - On 17 October, the UN Deputy Special Coordinator/Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Robert Piper, undertook a visit to a number of educational facilities in H2 to learn about and understand the current conditions and challenges relating to realizing the right to education in this area of Hebron. He was joined by a number of representatives from UN agencies and international donors.

    22 Aug 2017 - A senior United Nations political affairs official today voiced concerns over recent developments that undermine efforts to end the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including Israel's move to amend a law to cement its control over East Jerusalem.
  • 27 Jul 2017 - The Secretary-General welcomes the news that the crisis in the Old City of Jerusalem has been defused, in line with the status quo at the holy sites before 14 July. He hopes that the dialogue will continue and contribute to creating an atmosphere of trust amongst the communities. The Secretary-General will remain engaged with all stakeholders to this effect.

    26 Jul 2017 - I reiterate my concern over the situation in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is essential to fully respect the status quo at the holy sites as before 14 July. I welcome the dialogue between Israel and Jordan, in line with the Hashemite Kingdom's special and historic role, and encourage continued discussions on how to ensure security for both worshippers and visitors.

    25 Jul 2017 - Mr. President, Members of the Security Council, As we meet today to discuss the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, the risks of escalation and violence in the region continue to increase, despite the emergence of a newfound agreement among a number of countries of the need to stand united against terrorism and radicalism.
